Sometimes I don't have a lot of words. Sometimes I have to find my words. Sometimes I just like to collect new words. Here is where I do all of that. |
I am bad at going to the gym. Like, super bad at it. And when I’m there, I just wander around aimlessly until I find an open elliptical, at which point I climb on, adjust my iPod, and start moving. I do that for 30 minutes and then I stop, climb down, and wander back out of the gym.
It seems less than effective. But still better than not doing anything at all.
I’m much better at thinking of reasons not to go to the gym. Sometimes I don’t go because it’s nighttime and really isn’t it better to work out in the morning? Other times I skip going because I haven’t charged my iPod and who can work out in silence? My favorite recent excuse is that I am afraid my gym clothes make me look fat.
Did you read that? My GYM CLOTHES make me look fat. So then I say I’ll lose 10lbs first and then go to the gym, when my gym clothes fit better. (There is no plan for how I’ll actually magically lose the 10lbs. I am awesome.)
But I guess right now, it’s not about what I do at the gym, or how many times a week I talk myself into going. It’s the going that matters most, the being there, the moving, the exercising, the sweating, out of breath horribleness that will eventually go away the more often I do it.
And maybe in a few months I’ll get to buy new gym clothes. Ones that make me look awesome.
